We recently had the opportunity to catch up with Adam Gold, an active Member of Maven who specializes in healthcare information technology and manages data centers for a large hospital. A few weeks ago, Adam participated in his first Telephone Consultations with a Maven Client, and he was kind enough to share his experience with us.  Here is an excerpt of our discussion:
Wyatt Nordstrom, Maven CEO: Hi Adam. Thanks for taking the time to chat with us. How do you first hear about Maven?
Adam Gold: I was first referred to Maven by a LinkedIn contact. I immediately signed up and began to create my profile. I also started to refer colleagues and contacts on various networking sites to Maven.
WN: When did you get your first invitation to consult?
AG: I received my first consult request about 2 months after I joined. I didn’t hear much at first, but then the majority of the requests came soon after I updated my profile and fine-tuned it so “searchers” would have a better chance of finding me.
WN: That’s pretty typical. We find that people who take some time to improve their profiles show up in searches more often and get many more invites to consult. Was the request appropriate for your expertise?
WN: Thanks Adam. We look forward to sending more opportunities your way.
As mentioned in the interview, Adam’s experience is fairly typical. He joined Maven, came back a bit later and updated his profile, and pretty soon started getting invitations to consult. Adam has also invited several of his professional contacts to join Maven and has earned Referral Commissions for doing so. Here is some more information on Adam from his Maven profile. If you are a registered Maven Client and would like to consult with Adam, you can find his profile here.
