Earlier this week we released a new version of the Maven platform that includes the first deployment of our Member Profile rating system, MavenScore. MavenScore is a comprehensive, objective quality rating system that acts as a guide for our Clients when reviewing Maven profiles and selecting individuals to consult. It is calculated on a scale of 0 – 5, with 0 being the lowest and 5 being the highest. MavenScore takes into account over 30 discreet, measurable, and quantifiable factors relating to your interaction with our system. Some factors include completeness of your profile, frequency of profile updates, and responsiveness (whether you respond to invitations to consult, and how fast). Client feedback received after a Consultation is included in the calculation, but feedback from a single Consultation or from a single Client will not have an effect; we look for trends, not single data points. In general, profiles with stronger MavenScores will appear higher in Client search results and are more likely to be selected to participate in Consultations. Here are a few tips for improving your score:
- Complete every section of your profile. Profiles with rich data on employment history, education, and detailed knowledge/keywords receive higher MavenScores.
- Update your profile (including your professional bio) periodically so we have the most up-to-date information about you.
- If you reside in the United States, go through the Trufina Identity Verification process. You only need to do this once, after which your MavenScore will receive a permanent boost.
- Respond to every invitation to consult that you receive as quickly and honestly as possible. There is no penalty for declining, but if you misrepresent your knowledge of a particular topic, your MavenScore will suffer.
Finally, keep in mind that since MavenScore is a comprehensive rating that analyzes long-term trends, any single action or factor will not have an immediate impact on your MavenScore. Focus on key behaviors such as updating your profile from time to time and responding to every invitation you receive, and your MavenScore will benefit.
